The top 5 AI tools for data scientists, designers, PMs, and engineers

You’ve already read enough about how AI is going to be transformative. The problem is, you don’t have time to figure out which tools to use. Well, I have tried them all. And found the one’s you need to consider adopting on your product team.

AI Tools for Product Managers

1. Kraftful: Let AI sift through customer feedback to identify the highest priority product improvements.

Demo:

Kraftful is most helpful if your product has app store reviews or community forums because you can plug Kraftful directly into those sources. This tool stands out because it can ingest a large volume of feedback and give you a summary at about the same level of quality as an entry level product manager.

It also integrates GPT-4 enabling you to analyze your user feedback via chat. Just ask the AI, what’s my most requested feature, or is X feature more requested than Y feature, and the AI chat agent will tell you. If you have a ton of user feedback it’s a big time saver.

2. WriteMyPRD: Make writing PRDs a breeze with GPT-3.

Demo:

A useful starting point for drafting the initial version of the PRD if you are someone who is daunted by staring at a blank google doc at the start of the PRD writing process. The best part of WriteMyPRD is that it allows you to input a lot of extra context into the initial PRD prompt.

You can specify your target audience or personas, your success criteria, or any dependencies that this feature may rely on on. All of this context results in a higher quality first draft of your PRD.

3. AskFred: a ChatGPT-like assistant for your meetings.

Demo:

Everyone seems to be trying to build a virtual assistant to make meetings more effective, but fireflies.ai has been at it since 2019 —  quick disclosure: Tyler invested in fireflies.ai’s 2019 seed round. They have a lot of domain knowledge here and learned a ton from their initial product which was solely focused on taking notes during a meeting.

With AskFred they’ve introduced a ton of really cool features that should make their product much more sticky. Our favorite is that besides taking meeting notes, AskFred will summarize and assign out the action items at the end of the meeting.

4. Hypertype: Write emails 10x faster.

Demo:

Let’s face it, PMs write a lot of emails. Hypertype stands out from other smart composers, distinguishing itself through its unique approach to email composition. Unlike its competitors, Hypertype doesn’t just provide generic, AI-generated replies. It takes a step further by conducting a comprehensive analysis of your past email and document history.

This thorough examination allows Hypertype to gain a deep understanding of your specific writing style, habitual phrases, and contextual nuances. This granular level of understanding enables Hypertype to generate custom replies that are highly tailored and relevant to you.

The result is not just an AI-generated email, but one that genuinely feels like it’s been written by you. It saves you time, reduces cognitive load, and still allows you to maintain a personal touch in your professional communication.

5. Sense: All of your team’s documents and information automatically organized and interconnected.

Demo:

In February, the team at Sense launched a 2.0 version of their AI organization product. You connect it to all of your various sources at work (Google Docs, Figma, Slack, Github, Jira, etc) and it begins to build out connections between them centered around specific topics or features.

Perhaps the most useful feature is that you can create a new slide deck about a feature (say a new landing page) and Sense quickly tracks down all of the relevant docs, such as the PRD over in Google docs and the design file in Figma, putting all the resources you need to make your slides at your fingertips.

AI Tools for Designers

Whimsical: Level up your mind maps with AI-powered suggestions.

Demo:

In case you aren’t familiar with a mind map, it’s a diagram used to visually organize information into a hierarchy. They are often used when brainstorming new ideas, visualizing complex info, or organizing the relationships between ideas.

What’s neat about Whimsical, is that they’ve added an AI button to their mind map tool that basically gives you a brainstorming partner. Super useful when you are generating new ideas.

WOZ: Transform natural language into UI/UX wireframes and functional prototypes.

Demo:

This is a useful tool that helps product managers and designers collaborate more effectively and quickly turn user stories into prototypes. As a result you can more quickly get feedback from users and iterate.

A big fear of PMs and designers is the team building a feature for weeks and only getting feedback from customers after launch that the feature missed the mark. WOZ can help teams avoid this!

Uizard’s Autodesigner: Turn sketches into wireframes.

Demo:

Uizard is a widely-used interface designer with numerous templates for designers and UX professionals. They introduced “Autodesigner,” a tool that generates multiple screen mockups for apps or websites based on a brief description.

By using machine learning algorithms to convert sketches into functional UI elements and creating multi-screen mockups, Uizard makes design tools more accessible and accelerates early product validation, allowing users to obtain high-fidelity designs in a fraction of the time.

Colormind: An AI-based color scheme generator.

Designers should leverage Colormind to simplify the color palette creation process and find inspiration from various sources. Colormind uses a GAN (Generative Adversarial Network) trained on Adobe Color data and hand-picked palettes from Dribbble, to generate visually plausible and cohesive color combinations.

It creates harmonious color palettes for designers to use in their projects, considering various factors such as color theory and trends. By automating the palette selection process and extracting colors from diverse sources like artwork and photography, Colormind helps designers save time and discover unique, visually appealing color schemes for their projects.

Genius: An AI copilot for Figma.

Demo:

Developed by Diagram, it intuitively comprehends your design intentions, offering autocomplete suggestions using components from your design system. Genius promotes exploration and iteration, actively participating in your design process. This tool is an evolution of Diagram’s first AI tool, Magician, which provided unique icon generation and copywriting assistance.

Genius represents a significant stride towards generating user interfaces, providing recommendations such as button placement and text descriptions, effectively revolutionizing the design process. Diagram continues to innovate, empowering designers to be more creative and productive.

Bonus: AccessiBe: Automatically scan your website for accessibility issues.

Demo:

It’s imperative that your products be accessible to those with disabilities, but all too often we forget to do that. With AccessiBe, that won’t happen.

AccessiBe is an AI-based solution that scans and adjusts websites to ensure they meet accessibility standards, helping you create inclusive experiences for users with disabilities.
