Vibe coding is fast emerging as a core PM skill.
This doesn’t mean PRDs are dead; it simply means they come later.
The old process was:
Idea → Lengthy PRD → Debate + Refine PRD → Build
In the age of GenAI, the process has evolved into:
Idea → Brainstorm with AI → Vibe code prototype → Team Uses It→ Refine → PRD → Build
The PRD is still needed to codify:
- Non-goals
- Strategic fit
- Hypothesis and metrics
- Approvals, checks, evals
- Any other decision that stakeholders need to align on.
It’s important essential that you adopt this way of working so you’re not caught napping as a PM while the world moves forward.
