AI Product Manager Salary in 2026: What OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and Meta Pay

What AI product managers earn at OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and Meta, from Levels.fyi, plus senior pay at 14 employers and why your level matters more than your company.

Senior AI PMs at OpenAI earned $569K a year. At Oracle, $184K.

That was the spread across 14 top employers when I pulled Levels.fyi data plus offers from 100+ of my mentees last November.

I re-checked Levels.fyi on October 2, 2026. Here’s what each company pays now, where the money sits, and what moves your number.

AI PM salary by company (October 2026)

One thing first, because it changes how you read every salary site. On the four Levels.fyi company pages below, the title is Product Manager. I didn’t find a separate AI PM line.

So the cleanest read on AI PM pay is PM pay at the companies whose core product is AI, plus the Big Tech orgs that hire the most AI PMs.

CompanyLevelTotal comp per year (US)
OpenAIAll PM levels$325K to $750K+ (median package: $750K)
AnthropicAll PM levels$349K to $486K+ (small sample)
GoogleL4 / L5 / L6$287K / $378K / $614K
MetaL4 / L5 / L6$272K / $385K / $630K

Total comp is base, plus yearly stock, plus bonus. Every number on Levels.fyi is self-reported, so read each one as a band. Figures are from October 2, 2026.

Treat the Anthropic row as thin data. Levels.fyi’s Anthropic PM page was still asking for more submissions when I looked.

Senior AI PM salary across 14 companies

Here’s the full senior-level view from my November 2025 report:

Bar chart of senior AI PM total compensation at 14 employers: OpenAI $569K, Google $557K, Anthropic $549K, Netflix $535K, Apple $453K, Meta $452K, down to Oracle $184K. Sources: Levels.fyi and 100+ mentee offers.
Senior PM level or the company’s equivalent. Sources: Levels.fyi + 100+ mentee offers, from The Definitive Report on the AI PM Market, November 2025. It won’t match today’s Levels.fyi ranges line for line: the chart is the senior level and mixes in mentee offers.

1. The spread is 3.1x.

OpenAI’s L4 PM came in at $569K. Oracle’s IC-3 came in at $184K. $569K / $184K = 3.1x, for roughly the same seniority.

Oracle and IBM pay $184K to $226K. Same job on paper. Very different life.

2. Stock decides the ranking.

Netflix pays almost entirely in cash. That’s the all-black bar in the chart. At OpenAI and Google, stock is about half the package.

So two offers with the same headline can be completely different bets. $569K that’s half equity depends on what the stock does after you sign. $535K in cash is $535K.

When you compare offers, compare the base first. Then decide how much of the rest you believe in.

The variable that beats the company: your level

Look at Google. An L5 PM makes $378K. An L6 makes $614K.

That one level is worth $236K a year ($614K – $378K). Over four years, that’s about $944K (4 x $236K), if both packages stay flat. If Google is your target, my guide to becoming a Google product manager covers the path.

Meta shows the same jump. L5 is $385K, L6 is $630K. That’s a $245K gap ($630K – $385K).

Here’s what most candidates miss:

Your level gets set in the interview loop. By the time the recruiter calls with an offer, the band is already fixed. Negotiation moves your number inside that band.

So the biggest salary decision you’ll make happens in interview prep. Months before anyone says a number.

As of April 2026, I’d coached 200+ PM candidates, and 30+ of them landed AI PM offers in the prior 12 months, per my AI PM interview guide. The loop decides the level. The level decides the money.

How to land the top band

1. Build your target list first.

Pick the companies on the right side of the pay range, then watch them daily. The Job Search OS builds that list and scans it for new postings every day.

2. Get real AI experience, even without the title.

Hiring managers want to see something you built and shipped. How to become an AI PM with no experience is the 7-step roadmap.

3. Prep for the loop that sets your level.

In my April 2026 guide, OpenAI runs about 8 rounds, Anthropic about 6 and Meta 5. The AI PM interview guide has the real questions each one asks.

4. Know the ladder before you talk numbers.

If OpenAI is the goal, my OpenAI breakdown covers the levels, L2 through L6, plus the interview questions and the jobs OpenAI hires for.

AI PM salary FAQ

What is the average AI product manager salary?

No salary site separates AI PMs from other PMs, so a single average would be made up. At the senior level, AI PMs at the top 14 employers earned $184K to $569K in my November 2025 data. On Levels.fyi today, the OpenAI PM range runs $325K to $750K+ and the Anthropic PM range runs $349K to $486K+.

Do AI PMs make more than other PMs?

At the AI labs, the top of the range sits above Big Tech’s. Levels.fyi lists a median PM package of $750K at OpenAI, against $540K at Meta and $485K at Google (US, all levels).

Which company pays AI PMs the most?

Among the companies I checked, OpenAI. It tops my November 2025 senior-level chart at $569K, and it has the highest median on Levels.fyi today at $750K.

What do entry-level AI PMs make?

Rotational programs are the front door. Meta’s Rotational Product Manager role (L3) pays $171K and Google’s APM roles pay $182K to $206K. These are general PM entry roles, since Levels.fyi has no separate AI line. More in my entry-level product manager salary guide.

Can I negotiate my way up a level?

No. The level comes out of the interview loop. Put the work into the loop, then negotiate inside the band you earned.

Save this for later.
